Happy Resurrection Day!

Today is the day our Savior rose from the grave! I am so thankful that He died for me; He paid the price for my sins. Thank you Jesus. If you don't know Jesus in a personal way, find a bible-believing church and find out more!

We went to the Easter service at church this morning. (Which I only got to hear about half of, thanks to a certain pretty little girl.) We then went to my Grandma & Grandpa's house for lunch with the Platte side. I think Avery enjoyed seeing everyone (even if not everyone could touch her :)). She especially likes seeing my Grandma. She always smiles at her when Great-Grandma smiles and makes faces and laughs in front of her. :)

This is what she really thought of us trying to take her picture in her Easter dress.

Nope, Dad. I'm not going to cooperate.

Well, okay. But only one good one.

On the Move

As I mentioned before, Avery has figured out how to move herself around by pushing herself backwards on her tummy. She's been doing it more the last few days. And these are the kinds of places she ends up, now that she's mobile:

She kept lifting her head up to peek out the window. :)

There's another baby in there I think...

What Mom? You can't believe I can move around already? You just wait...

She usually starts out in the middle of the room, and has made it to both ends so far! She also pushes herself up every once in a while, you know, in a semi-crawling position. Yikes! Before I know it this baby will be everywhere!

One last picture...
Avery loves it when her Grandma comes to visit her. :)

Avery likes her some avocado

So we've been toying a little the last few weeks with solid foods for Avery. She likes her rice cereal, and will eat bananas (while making awful "Mom this stuff is disgusting!" faces). But what does she like, almost right away, and keeps grunting for more? Avocados. Yep. She's one silly girl. :)

That is one cute baby girl. :)

Catching up... again

What?! I seriously haven't blogged since the beginning of January?!?! Slacker. Okay. Maybe not. I'm just a busy momma and daycare provider to two other needy babies. So let's see...

The beginning of January Avery had her 4 month appointment (seems kind of like a moot point now that's she's 6.5 months old, but hey. I want to remember this stuff. :)) She was 15 lbs., 6 oz. (90%), and 25 3/4 inches (95%) long. I remember being quite surprised that she was that big already! She had to get two shots, and didn't even let out a cry until they did the second one! A couple days after she marked her 4 month birthday, she rolled over from her tummy to her back! (Don't get too excited, though. That's the only time she's ever done it.) January held lots of snow, and enjoying our last few weeks with just Avery and Elise during the day.

At the beginning of February, I started watching a little boy, Lelan, who was just 3 months old. The answer is yes. I am crazy. Possibly even certifiable. After a few rough days, we started getting into a routine, and Avery really seems to like her little "boyfriend" that comes to play every day. (Although Daddy says she's too young to have a boyfriend.) During the middle of February, I made a discovery-my baby girl had her first tooth coming through! I was very happy to have found it with my finger, and not on some other body part. Ahem.... The next day I peeked to see how that tooth was doing, and lo and behold it had a little neighbor. Her two bottom teeth were working their way in. :)

She went in for her 6 month checkup at the beginning of March. She weighed 17 lbs, 4 oz (75%), and was 26.5 inches (75%) long. That's the first time since she was born that she wasn't in the 90-something percentile! But don't worry, she's got plenty of baby rolls to go around. :) She had to get three shots this time, and was none too happy about it either.

This is fair warning. Read the next part at your own risk. ;)
So, remember those little, white, jagged, baby teeth? A couple weeks ago, Avery figured out something "fun" to do while I was nursing her. Biting. Mommy did not think that was funny. At all. This lasted on and off for the better part of a week, and included a day of Avery being on a nursing strike. (That was the longest day of my life. Ever. Pretty sure.) Apparently me gasping in pain every time she bit me finally took it's toll, and that's what the lactation consultant told me probably sent her on that strike. So after that, I just ignored the biting. (Which is really hard, by the way.) And now she's been pretty good about just eating normally. Hooray!

The next week, Avery caught a nasty cold, which kept her up for an hour and a half one night. I've never been up with her for that long at night. Ever. Even when she was itty bitty. She would always eat and go back to sleep. (I know I shouldn't complain, but, well, I can if I want to! :)) The week continued with her waking up and coughing for around an hour every night. She's finally back to sleeping through the night this week, although that cough is still sticking around. I think she's on the upward swing though, so hopefully she'll be feeling back to her old self soon.

And one last thing that she figured out the other day. She can scoot backward when she's on her belly. She's only done it a few times, but her Momma was pretty proud. :)

Cutest baby ever. :)

She was exhausted.

Are you looking at me?

Just doing a little light reading.

Daycare Buddies
Elise, almost 1 (her birthday is on Sunday!), Avery, 6.5 months, Lelan 4 months

Just hanging out in the laundry basket.

She likes riding in her wagon. :)

Isn't she the cutest? We sure think so. :)

Until next time. Whenever that may be.... :)

Welcome, 2010

We celebrated the New Year with our friends, Jake and Tina. They have a little girl that's about 3 months older than Avery. The babies had fun staring at each other. Because what else can you do when you can't really go anywhere? I should say that we only sort of celebrated the New Year with them, because we were home by 9 and in bed by 10. I guess that means we're probably getting old...Avery and Sophie, best buds

Why do you people keep taking our pictures?!

Did I mention that baby girl found her thumb today? She has previously figured out how to suck her fingers, but today she found her thumb and was going to town on it!

Avery's First Christmas

Avery enjoyed her very first Christmas! On Christmas Eve, we traveled to Tama to celebrate with Matt's Dad's family. It was a little scary, because it was raining and 33 degrees out, but luckily we made it all the way back to Waterloo before it started to turn to ice. On Christmas morning, we opened gifts with Avery's Grandpa Johnson, Aunt Steph and Uncle Tim. That evening, we went to her Great-Grandpa Nichol's house, where she got to see Grandma and Grandpa Sime and lots of other family.

The next day, we went to her Great-Grandma and Grandpa Platte's to celebrate with my side of the family. Avery really liked seeing her little cousins again. Danny (who is 3 or 4) almost had her laughing. He kept talking to her about her cute little pants, and socks, and ears. :)

On Sunday we had our last get-together, with Avery's Grandma and Grandpa Platte and Uncle Josh and Aunt Jenna. She did really well with four days in a row of traveling and pretty much nothing that resembled her normal routine!

She got lots of fun new toys and cute new clothes. She is one loved baby girl. :)

P.S. We did miss one four generations picture with Matt's Grandpa and Mom.

Four generations: Great-Grandpa Platte, Grandpa Platte, Great-Grandma Platte, Avery, and Mommy.

Avery in her pretty Christmas dress from Grandma and Grandpa Platte.

Four generations-Daddy, Great-Grandma Johnson, Avery, and Grandpa Johnson.

Playing with her links, waiting to go to Tama.

All dressed up to go to the Christmas service at church.

In her cute Christmas pajamas. She looks like she doesn't know quite what to think about them!

Look what this big, big girl can do!

Avery learned how to pick her head up when laying on her belly. This picture was from the beginning of December, after her photo shoot for her three month pictures. A couple days later, she also laughed for the very first time! She hasn't laughed a whole lot since then. It's a lot of work when we do finally get her to giggle! :)
